WILKES-BARRE -- A man accused of threatening a district judge waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Rick Cronauer on Tuesday.


Frank Kearney, 50, of Monroe Street, Wilkes-Barre, waived two counts of terroristic threats and harassment to Luzerne County Court.


He remains free on $40,000 bail.


A joint investigation by police in Kingston and Wilkes-Barre alleges Kearney threatened to kill District Judge Paul Roberts, who is based in Kingston, in August.


WILKES-BARRE – A Fairview Township man accused of molesting a boy was sentenced Wednesday to 23 months probation.


Stanley Klepczyk, 37, of Birch Street, pleaded no contest to a single count of indecent assault before Luzerne County Senior Judge Joseph Augello.


Augello sentenced Klepczyk to 23 months in the county's intermediate punishment program with the first three months on house arrest with electronic monitoring. He was ordered not to have unsupervised contact with children and pay $9,223 to the district attorney's office for the cost of the investigation.


Fairview Township police charged Klepczyk after a young boy alleged was molested by him from December 2009 to January 2010.


WILKES-BARRE – A heroin peddler in the Hazleton area was sentenced Tuesday in Luzerne County Court.


Elijah Crutch, 21, of West Oak Street, Hazleton, was sentenced by Judge Michael Vough to three to six months in the county prison on two counts of delivery of heroin and a single count of possession with intent to deliver heroin. Crutch could have been sentenced up to 15 years in prison on the three felony charges.


Hazleton police said they purchased heroin from Crutch on Feb. 21.
