Dallas Twp.â??s special committees meet

DALLAS TWP. – The township's Comprehensive Plan and Visioning committees got together for the third time Tuesday to discuss the township's zoning districts and the possibility of changing the designation of some of those areas.

The township is developing a comprehensive plan to prepare for its future. The committees, which consist of township officials and residents, were formed to facilitate the process. Part of that process is updating the township's maps and ordinances.

During Tuesday's session, committee members pored over township maps and tossed around ideas on the pros and cons of rezoning. Jack Varaly, a consultant to the Comprehensive Plan committee, said changing agriculture-zoned areas to a conservation designation could protect landowners from oil-and-gas uses such as compressor stations and processing plants. It makes sense to be in a conservation district, he said.

The group will meet again in the municipal building at 10 a.m. Feb. 7 and also at its regular meeting, which is held at 7 p.m. the last Monday of each month.
