Duryea woman struck, later dies

JENKINS TWP. – A Duryea woman died hours after she was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon near Spadi Park, township police said.

Mary Petroziello, 65, was struck at about 2:10 p.m. by a 2004 Toyota operated by Joan Heck, 78, of Jenkins Township, on Main Street in the Inkerman section of the township, according to police.

Petroziello was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township, where she was pronounced dead several hours later, police said. An investigation continues.
