HAZLETON – Tanner Englehart and Ashley Dunbar helped Dallas jump out to a big halftime lead as the Mountaineers defeated Hazleton Area 58-48 Thursday, handing the Cougars their first loss in Wyoming Valley Conference Division I girls basketball.


The Mountaineers led 30-13 at the break. Englehart had 11 of her game-high 18 points in the first two quarters, while Dunbar scored six of her 16.


Alyssa Sitch had 12 and Brianna Woznicki added 11 for Hazleton Area.

Pittston Area scored no less than 17 points in every quarter, notching a win at Tunkhannock.


Mia Hopkins scored a game-high 21 points for the Patriots. Liz Waleski netted 18, Allie Barber added 17 and Eastin Ashby tossed in 12.


Maegan Wrubel led Tunkhannock with 15 points, connecting on four jumpers from three-point range.

Nanticoke used a big third quarter to shake off a slow start and defeat Meyers.


The Trojanettes hit five of their nine three-pointers in the third period when they outscored Meyers 17-9. Alex Brassington paced the win with 14 points. Lauren Rinehimer added 11.


Meyers' Salimah Biggs led all scorers with 18 points.
