Hazleton police investigating baby's injuries

According to Det. Lt. Kenneth Zipovsky, police responded to a report at 11:42 a.m. of a female child with a head injury. Zipovsky said when police arrived at the hospital the child was receiving emergency treatment for brain bleeding and swelling.
The child was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
The case is being investigated by detectives from Hazleton City Police Department and the Luzerne County District Attorneyâ??s Office, in conjunction with caseworkers from the Luzerne County office of Children and Youth Services.
Zipovsky said the investigation is in the preliminary stages and anyone with information is urged to call 911 and ask to speak to a Hazleton officer.
