• 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen, 39 E. Jackson St., Wilkes-Barre.
• Theo's Metro in Kingston is also offering free meals to those in need on Thursday but reservations are now closed. The restaurant expects to serve about 250 people.
• There will be no bus service through the Luzerne County Transportation Authority on Thursday. Normal bus schedules will resume Friday.
• For those traveling to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal or brave the shopping crowds on Black Friday, the Pennsylvania Turnpike has a Smartphone app available for Droid and iPhone users. Users can download the app, TripTalk, onto their phones to get updates on the turnpike, including backups or accidents.
• If the turnpike isn't in your travel plans, motorists can visit www.511pa.com for updated information on PennDOT roadways, or by calling 511.
• On Thursday and Friday city halls in Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, Pittston and Nanticoke will be closed.
• Check with your local municipality to see if offices are open Friday.
• The Luzerne County Courthouse and all county offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
