Hopkins leads Patriots over Royals

YATESVILLE – Mia Hopkins tallied a game-high 25 points and her teammate Liz Waleski chipped in 16 points to lead Pittston Area to a 51-46 win over Holy Redeemer in the Pittston Area girls basketball tournament on Sunday.


Alexis Lewis scored 18 points to lead the Royals.

Senior Devon Mazonkey poured in a game-high 17 points, but it wasn't enough for the Rangers, who were outscored 27-17 in the second half. Tyler Meininger also reached double figures for Northwest scoring 12 points.

The Cougars scored just two points over a nine-minute span and committed 23 turnovers falling to the 16th-ranked team from Maryland.


Cael Evans led the Cougars with 13 points in the loss while Jesse Urich chipped in 11. Steve Ware also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
