CONYNGHAM TWP. – A hunter was flown to a hospital after she fell out of a tree stand in the Pond Hill section of the township Monday morning.

Pond Hill Assistant Fire Chief Dan Dawson said the Hobbie Fire Co. assisted Pond Hill Fire and Ambulance get the hunter out of the woods using an all-terrain vehicle and manpower.

Dawson said the hunter, whom he estimated to be in her early to mid 20s, fell about 15 feet onto a rock surface. He declined to provide her name, but he did say she was part of a group of hunters.

He said Slocum Fire Department set up a landing zone for the helicopter, but he did not know to which hospital she was flown.

A Luzerne County 911 supervisor said the emergency call was received at 6:24 a.m. and emergency crews responded to Pond Mountain Road. He said Medic 95 also assisted.
