WILKES-BARRE: The AARP Foundation, in cooperation with the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library in Mountain Top and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wilkes-Barre, will provide free tax preparation and e-filing for federal and state income taxes for area residents. This service is available to all taxpayers with lower and middle incomes with special attention to those aged 60 and over. AARP membership is not a requirement.
Participants must bring 2011 tax return, social security statement, all W-2, 1099, and interest or dividend income statements and property tax receipts for 2012, if filing for Property Tax Rebate. Appointments are required.
Assistance will be available at the Kirby Library, 35 Kirby Ave., on Mondays, beginning, Feb. 4 and continuing through April 8. Call 678-5436 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday for an appointment. Do not call the library for an appointment.
Assistance at the Good Shepherd Church, 190 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, will be available on Thursdays, beginning Feb. 7 and continuing through April 11. Call 678-3504 Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for an appointment. Do not call the church for an appointment.
