LIUā??s $2.8 million budget contains no increase for districts

KINGSTON -- The Luzerne Intermediate Unit's Board of Directors passed its 2013-2014 $2.8 million general operating budget on Wednesday night.

Member school district contributions are not increased from the prior year.

In a challenging economy, we are very proud to avoid putting any extra burden on member districts, said Peter Lanza, board vice president, who represents Northwest Area School District.

Executive Director Anthony Grieco introduced a resolution commemorating January 2013 as School Board Recognition month, which has been adopted by Pennsylvania School Boards Association.

The theme ‘Serving Every Child Every Day' is reflected here at the LIU and throughout our districts, Grieco said.
