Local woman honored for serving homeless veterans

Barbara Miller, Swoyersville, was recently honored at the Pennsylvania American Legion Housing for Homeless Veterans Corporation's 22nd annual awards dinner at the Pittsburgh Airport Doubletree Hotel. Miller was honored for her outstanding service to homeless veterans, which exemplifies the principals of justice, freedom and democracy and promotes the principals of the American Legion. Miller is on the National Executive Committee for the American Legion Auxiliary. At the event, from left: General Michael Gould, deputy adjutant general, National Guard; Sean Parnell, Iraq and Afghanistan veteran and author of the book, Outlaw Platoon; Miller; and Joseph Cocco, state commander, Pennsylvania American Legion.
