WILKES-BARRE – A Hazleton man filed a lawsuit in Luzerne County Court against a man he alleges was the driver of a vehicle that struck and injured his young son in April.
Albert Morales Sr. recently filed the suit on behalf of his son through his attorney, Andrew Primerano, of Hazleton, against Ronald Grohol, of Weatherly. The suit seeks more than $50,000 in damages.
According to court papers, on April 26 just before 6 p.m., Morales said his son was walking on West Elm Street in the city near an intersection with South Church Street.
Grohol was driving a 2011 Ram 1500 pickup, the suit says, and allegedly drove around another vehicle that had been stopped attempting to make a turn. That's when, the suit says, Grohol struck Morales' son with his vehicle, causing numerous injuries.
The suit alleges Grohol acted negligently and carelessly by failing to have his vehicle under control. Grohol failed to operate his vehicle in a safe and proper fashion, the suit says, according to local and state laws.
Court records do not indicate Grohol was charged in the incident.
Grohol could not be reached for comment.
The boy received injuries to his lower back, right wrist, right arm and left elbow. As a result of the accident, the suit says, the boy has had to undergo medical treatment and will continue to for an indefinite time.
