Chris Casale is the president of PureEdge Technologies. Casale, 26, graduated from Delaware Valley High School and earned a degree in business and marketing at Kutztown University. He is engaged to Jill Vanderhook and lives in Shavertown.
What is PureEdge Technologies?
We are basically a full-service communications provider. We provide business phone systems and Internet options for many offices from Northeastern Pennsylvania to New York. We do large and smaller installations. We are basically a one-stop shop for people to consult with us and find the best phone and Internet services.
Take us back to your beginnings in the phone and Internet industry.
My father, Albert Casale, worked in the phone business for 40 years with Bell and AT&T among others. He retired at one point and started his own company for a few years, and I learned a great deal working with him. When I was done with college I took an internship with an equipment provider where we sold phones and cabling to various companies. At the same time, my friend Joshua Ferry was working for a phone company. We go all the way back to high school, and when we reconnected we decided to pool our resources and merge our ideas and form our own company. He is now the chief finance officer of PureEdge Technologies. We began operation in April of 2009.
What have you found to be the most enjoyable aspect of your job?
I really like seeing something new every day and learning about new technology as well. Part of the intrigue is that we have to evolve older systems to mesh with our systems, and that is always a challenge that proves to be very interesting.
Was there someone you admired or who was a role model for you growing up?
My father was instrumental in that he always taught me not to expect handouts and to work hard for what I have. He taught me well.
Speaking of people you admire, you mentioned a television show that you like called Men Who Built America. What is your draw to that show?
It's an interesting show because it relates to my business somewhat. The main focus is on old industries and how they evolved through the years. Kind of like how our company has to continually evolve. It's on the History Channel and is very interesting.
What do you like to do when you have some free time?
I really like to ride motorcycles and play ice hockey at Coal Street. I like the Penguins and the Devils in the NHL.
Where have you traveled, and where would you like to venture to?
I really love it in Bermuda. I have been there twice. Someday I would like to get to Europe.
What type of food do you enjoy most?
I really enjoy Italian food and going to the Arena Bar and Grill.
What type of music do you enjoy?
I like a wide variety really. I would have to say rock music in general though.
What do you think needs to be improved upon the most in Northeastern Pennsylvania?
It has to do directly with what I do for a living. I would really like to see the area improve its infrastructure.
What would you say are some of the proudest moments in your life?
I would have to say when I graduated college was very memorable. My family was very nervous when I started PureEdge too. Three years later I have to say that I am very proud of what we have accomplished and continue to do.
