Morning Update: An icy start to the week expected
Last Modified: February 20. 2013 3:56AM
According to 511pa.com and the National Weather Service, the system will begin with between 1 and 2 inches of snow before changing over to freezing rain by mid- to late-morning, generally between 9 a.m. and noon.
Accumulations of up to 1/10 of an inch of ice are possible before the weather changes to rain by early Tuesday morning.
Roads are expected to remain slick into Monday afternoon and evening as the icy mix coats streets and sidewalks.
PennDOT has not issued any direct traffic alerts on area roadways as of 8 a.m., Monday morning.
The National Weather Service at Binghamton has issued a winter weather advisory expiring at 5 p.m. Monday.
