Goals will be tough to come by in the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships, but four area women figure to find the back of the net a few times when the action begins Saturday.

Kat Sharkey, Paige Selenski, Kelsey Amy and Kelsey Kolojejchick are among the top scorers in the country in Division I and it will take some stout defenses to limit their scoring.

Sharkey, from Moosic (Wyoming Seminary), has scored 32 goals and picked up seven assists for 71 points for the Princeton Tigers, who carried Sharkey's three goals and an assist to get past Lafayette 6-0 in a play-in game Tuesday. She didn't get the game-winner but has seven on the season.

Sharkey leads the nation in points per game (3.94) and goals per game (1.78) and led Princeton to a 17-1 record. Despite having to compete in a play-in game, the Tigers are ranked second in the country. They face Drexel in the first round Saturday.

Virginia's Selenski (Dallas) was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year. The senior forward has 26 goals and 12 assists for 64 points with seven game-winners. She ranks second to Sharkey in points per game (3.37) and is fourth in goals per game (1.37). The Cavs take a 15-5 record into the tourney and will face Iowa in the opening round.

Penn State's Amy (Lake-Lehman) was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. The senior forward has 24 goals and 10 assists for 58 points with five game-winners. She stands fifth in points per game (2.90) and goals per game (1.20). The Nittany Lions are 17-3 and will play Albany Saturday.

North Carolina's Kolojejchick, from Larksville (Wyoming Seminary), has 15 goals and 21 assists for 51 points with three game-winners. The assists (1.00 per game) lead the nation and her points per game (2.43) stands eighth. The Tar Heels, ranked first in the country, take a 20-1 record into the tourney and will face Stanford in the first round.

The first and second round will be held Saturday and Sunday with the Final Four scheduled for Nov. 16-18 in Norfolk, Va.
