Upon completion, recruits are presented the Marine Corps emblem and called Marines for the first time. Granville is the son of Linda M. Gisinger, Avoca, and Joseph B. Granville, Scranton. He is a 2012 graduate of West Scranton High School. Eddy is the son of Joann R. Eddy and stepson of John Shefler, Monroe Township.
