WILKES-BARRE ‚?? City police are investigating a shooting early Monday evening on Hutson Street.
Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said it is still too early in the investigation to say anything other than the shooting victim was still alive as of 10 p.m.
A Luzerne County 911 supervisor said a call came in just before 7:30 p.m. reporting that one person was shot at 86 Hutson St.
Neighbors said the victim is male and that he apparently was shot on the porch of a neighbor who lives across the street.
‚??He was yelling, ‚??I‚??ve been shot. I‚??ve been shot in the heart. I‚??m dying. Somebody please call the cops,‚??‚?Ě said Christina Wickham, who lives at the corner of Hutson and Dana streets, just a few houses away from scene of the shooting.
Wickham said a female resident at 86 Hutson St. ‚??was saying that it was an accident, it was an accident. She was yelling, ‚??Oh, my God, Christian, oh, my God, are you OK? Is he going to be OK?‚?? I guess the brother and whoever was down there said he was turning blue,‚?Ě Wickham said.
Wickham said she heard the victim‚??s brother screaming into a cellphone, demanding that somebody ‚??get here and get here fast, that his brother‚??s been shot.‚?Ě
Wickham said she was making dinner when she heard the screaming from her kitchen.
John Dupras, Wickham‚??s brother-in-law, said the area has become unsafe.
‚??It‚??s a shame to see this kind of stuff happen.‚?Ě
Wickham said her landlord told her it was a great neighborhood when she moved in four years ago.
‚??Then we had a murder right across the street last year,‚?Ě she said.
The Monday night shooting also occurred less than three blocks from 117 Hill St., where, police allege, 14-year-old Tyler Winstead was accidentally shot by his friend, 14-year-old Elijah Yusiff, on April 5. Yusiff was charged with an undisclosed offense in May.
