PLYMOUTH ‚?? For the first time, fall soccer consisted of all the girls and boys teams, and the season went smoothly for the most part.

Everyone involved is hoping the postseasons go along without any glitches as well. All the qualifying teams learned their fate on Monday at Wyoming Valley West High School as the pairings for each tournament were released.

The tournaments begin today with three play-in games. On the boys side in Class A, Meyers hosts Old Forge tonight at 7:30 for the right to play No. 1 seed Mountain View on Friday. In Class 2A boys, Lake-Lehman hosts Honesdale at 6 p.m. with the winner advancing to play top-seeded Dallas on Friday.

In girls action, there‚??s only one play-in contest and that‚??s in Class 2A with Holy Redeemer traveling to Valley View at 5:30 p.m. today and the victor heading down to Berwick for a match with the No. 1-seeded Bulldogs.

All the quarterfinals will be played on either Thursday or Friday this week.

There‚??s only one difference from recent years, that being all the semifinals will now be held at the higher seeded team on either Monday, Oct. 29 or Tuesday, Oct. 30.

In years past, the semifinals were doubleheaders at neutral locations.

The finals will be either Wednesday, Oct. 31 or Thursday, Nov. 1.

Only one team that does not win a gold medal advances to the first round of the PIAA Championships on Tuesday, Nov. 6, that being the runner-up in the girls Class 2A tournament.

District 2 will host first round matches in the state tournament in Class A boys, Class 3A boys, Class 2A girls and Class 3A girls.

The 2A boys and the Class A girls champions will travel to District 4 for the first round of states, while the 2A girls runner-up heads down to District 3.
