WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:
• A woman who was awoken in the middle of the night by a burglar who told her to go back to sleep followed his instruction, thinking it was her husband.
Audrey Greeley, 22, of 22 W. Elm St., reported that she was awoken at about 2:30 a.m. Monday by a male with a flashlight who was smoking a cigarette. He told her to go back to sleep, and she did.
When Greeley woke up later, she found that her Coach purse and its contents were missing.
The suspect had gained entry through a window on the south side of the house.
An investigation continues.
• Courtney Crandall, of 73 Wilkinson St., Wilkes-Barre, was charged with retail theft after Boscov's security officer Hattie Caruso said she witnessed her allegedly try to remove a red sweater, red earrings and a red blouse from the store without paying on Oct. 31, police said.
The items had a total value of $68.
• A man reported someone entered and ransacked his vehicles while they were parked in his driveway at 80 E. Linden St. between 4 p.m. Saturday and 1:45 p.m. Sunday. An unknown amount of loose change was taken.
• A woman reported that someone entered her residence at 193 Stanton St. sometime between 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sunday and stole about $30 in loose change. It appears that the suspect entered through an open bedroom window.
