WILKES-BARRE – Police arrested Altrick M. Taylor, 21, of Parkview Circle, on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop Friday.
According to police, police stopped the vehicle Taylor was driving at 3:57 p.m. Friday on the 800 block of South Franklin Street. Taylor ran from the vehicle and was apprehended after he allegedly discarded a bag of suspected crack cocaine, police said. Police said they also found a loaded firearm with a partially removed serial number near the driver's seat of the vehicle.
Taylor was arraigned Saturday morning and charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm with manufacturer number altered, etc., internal possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct. He was remanded to Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $50,000 monetary bail.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday before District Judge Rick Cronauer, Wilkes-Barre.
Police also reported:
• Someone reportedly kicked in the door to 289 N. Main St. and removed a laptop computer and a shotgun sometime between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
• Police arrested Rudolph Goodwin on public drunkenness charges at 9:13 a.m. Saturday following a domestic disturbance at 286 Stanton St. Police said Goodwin was taken to police headquarters, where he was cited and held until sober.
