DUPONT – A fire that damaged an apartment building at 253 Main St. on Monday morning was intentionally set, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to the apartment building at about 7 a.m. and quickly extinguished a blaze on a rear porch.
One tenant was not home at the time of the blaze. Four other apartments are vacant.
HAZLE TWP. – State police at Hazleton said someone stole a 46-inch television from Walmart on the Airport Beltway on Friday then drove away in a Nissan Altima.
BUTLER TWP. – No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lane of Interstate 81 on Saturday.
State police at Hazleton said Job Paraedes, 35, of Hazleton, driving a 2007 Freightliner, struck the rear of a 2009 BMW driven by Launi Bianco, 41, of Hazleton, at about 1 a.m. Bianco was slowing when her car was struck from behind by the tractor-trailer, state police said.
HAZLE TWP. – State police at Hazleton said four vehicles were ransacked along Jeansville Road on Saturday through Sunday. One of the vehicles was driven away and located about 200 yards from where it was taken on Jeansville Road.
A white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt was spotted in the area.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:
• A bay door was damaged at Kuchemba's Service Station on North River Street on Sunday. Police discovered the damage while investigating a burglar alarm at 1:20 a.m.
No items were reported missing.
• John Harrison, 49, of Wilkes-Barre, was cited with criminal mischief after Patricia Fuller reported he smashed eggs on her vehicle on North Sherman Street on Dec. 5.
