WILKES-BARRE – A donation jar holding more than $100 was reported stolen Sunday afternoon from the Wendy's restaurant on Kidder Street.

The cable securing the jar to the counter was cut after a man asked to use the phone and employees were busy with customers, police said.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches with a thin build, crew cut blond hair and no facial hair or glasses. He wore a light-colored hooded sweatshirt with stripes on a sleeve, blue jeans and brown boots. He fled on a bicycle through the rear parking lot.

WILKES-BARRE – Police Sunday arrested Anthony Ardo, no age or address available, after a report of an unruly man on Hazle Avenue. Ardo was in the roadway and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, police said. He was a danger to himself and others and taken into custody, police said.

JENKINS TWP. – Fire destroyed two mobile homes in the Heather Highlands trailer park early Sunday morning.

One of the home residents and a firefighter were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The alarm came in around midnight Saturday and the occupants of both homes were able to get out.

Fire departments from Jenkins Township and surrounding communities responded.
