WILKES-BARRE TWP. – Township police reported the following:
• Police cited Jessica Fischer, 21, of Ashley, with harassment after she allegedly struck another woman in the face on Jan. 23 at Target, Wilkes-Barre Township Commons.
• Police charged Mary Sims, 63, of Harveys Lake, with retail theft after she allegedly stole $19 worth of merchandise on Jan. 23 from Office Max, Wyoming Valley Mall. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on March 13.
WILKES-BARRE – City police are investigating an attempted robbery at the Turkey Hill at North Washington Street and George Avenue early Tuesday morning.
Two men came into the store at about 2:30 a.m. and claimed they had a weapon, police said. They fled when the cash register malfunctioned and did not open.
PLAINS TWP. – Township police reported the following:
• Police cited Jason Bell, 28, of Plains Township, with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found intoxicated while walking along South River Street on Jan. 19.
• Police cited Edward Kolankiewicz Jr., 50, of Pittston, with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found intoxicated and lying in the parking lot outside Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs casino on Jan. 19.
HAZLE TWP. – State police at Hazleton recently filed charges of driving under the influence of alcohol against Elizabeth Sitoski, 58, of Hazleton, after her vehicle was stopped because she allegedly failed to discontinue use of its high beams on state Route 309 on Dec. 22.
Sitoski was transported to Hazleton General Hospital for a blood test, state police said.
The charges were filed with District Judge James Dixon in Hazle Township.
WILKES-BARRE TWP. -- Security at J.C. Penney at the Wyoming Valley Mall reported at 12:50 p.m. Sunday that an unknown male stole four Keurig coffee makers over the course of three days. Estimated value of the retail thefts is $660.
