WILKES-BARRE – City police are seeking information related to a shooting at Coal and Empire streets on Tuesday afternoon.
Police responded to the area just after 1 p.m. for a report of shots fired at two vehicles. Police learned that a black man with a limp fired the shots and then fled on foot through Interfaith Apartments. Police checked the area and found seven 40-caliber shells in the area of 21 N. Empire Court, but did not locate the suspect.
The two cars involved were located on Abbott Street, but the occupants had little to say about the incident and were reluctant to provide any information, police said. Police searched both cars but found nothing illegal.
The incident remains under investigation.
WILKES-BARRE – A man was arraigned Wednesday on charges he stole a vehicle and failed to pay a taxi fare.
Mark D. Forman, 59, last known address as Hillside Drive, Clarks Summit, was charged with separate counts of theft. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $7,500 bail.
City police allege Forman stole a 2005 Buick Rendezvous from the Catholic Youth Center on South Washington Street on Monday. State police recovered the Buick along Interstate 81.
City police also allege Forman failed to pay a $57 taxi fare to Posten Taxi when he was dropped off Tuesday on Public Square. He was arrested when police spotted him in a Burgit City Taxi cab at North Wilkes-Barre Boulevard and Scott Street, according to the criminal complaints.
WILKES-BARRE – Qualuani Izarie Anthony, 20, of Sambourne Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. She was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
Police said Anthony allegedly screamed obscenities, causing a disturbance outside her residence on Sept. 20. Anthony resisted arrest and jumped onto the hood of a cruiser, according to the criminal complaint.
