Cole Mayhue, Hanover Township, recently won a model of the R.M.S. Titanic from the Luzerne County Historical Society. Mayhue, a fifth-grade student at St. Nicholas/St. Mary School, Wilkes-Barre, purchased the raffle ticket when he visited the Historical Society's Museum in April. The model was part of the exhibit, ‘The Titanic and Her Wilkes-Barre Passengers,' which was on display at the museum from April to early November. Although the exhibit is closed, the society has a book available which details the experiences of the 20 Titanic passengers who had ties to Wilkes-Barre. ‘Stories of the Wilkes-Barre Titanic Passengers' by William V. Lewis Jr. can be purchased at the Luzerne County Historical Society, 49 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, and at area book stores. For more information call the society at 823-6244.
