Raymond Meyers, 82 Old Tavern Road, Hunlock Creek, will celebrate his milestone 100th birthday on Dec. 14. Born on Dec. 14, 1912, in Drums, Pa., he is the son of the late Ernest and Lottie Meyers, Hunlock Creek.
Raymond worked alongside his father as a sawyer and timber man in the family business until his father's death. Raymond continued the business until he retired when he was well into his 80's.
He was married to the late Mildred Bonham for 72 years until her passing in 2005.
They share four children together, the late Alan Meyers, Hunlock Creek, Pa.; Dale Meyers, Ballston Lake, N.Y.; Duane Meyers, Hunlock Creek, Pa.; and Dena Gregory, Shickshinny Lake, Pa.
Raymond has three daughters-in-law and one son-in-law, Loretta Meyers, Benton, Pa.; Sharon Meyers, Ballston Lake, N.Y.; Donna Meyers, Hunlock Creek, Pa.; and Arthur Gregory Jr., Shickshinny Lake, Pa.
He is the grandfather of 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Raymond resides in his home with one of his granddaughters, Lisa Killian and her husband, Jim Killian, his main caregivers.
His family and friends will celebrate (no gifts, please) with an open house in Raymond's honor from 2-5 p.m. on Dec. 16 at his home.
