San Diego Navy base on lockdown amid manhunt

(AP) The Navy says a San Diego base is on lockdown amid a massive search for a former Los Angeles police officer suspected of going on a killing spree.

Spokesman Keith Dixon says Thursday's lockdown at Naval Base Point Loma began after someone matching Christopher Dorner's description was seen in the area.

Dorner is a former officer in the Navy Reserve.

Numerous San Diego police, county sheriff's deputies and federal agents are at the base.

The military base on San Diego's Point Loma peninsula houses the Third Fleet Commander, the Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, the Naval Warfare System Command and seven submarines.
