Last Modified: March 16. 2013 11:02PM
The warrant, filed today, says the safety inspection is necessary to determine if any mechanical defects of safety violations caused or contributed to the vehicle allegedly striking Miller on West North Street on Dec. 21.
Miller was killed after he was struck while crossing the street with his family.
Police seized the suspect vehicle, a red Pontiac Grand Am, on Jan. 4 after receiving a tip. The alleged driver, Thomas Letteer Jr. of Plains Township, has been listed as a person on interest in the case, but has not been charged.
The warrant is one of several that have been issued in the case. It seeks permission for authorities to take photos and measurements, and to inspect the tires, wheels, brakes, lighting and other safety equipment. It also seeks to recover information from any data recorder that may exist in the vehicle
