SHICKSHINNY — Borough council agreed at a special meeting Wednesday night to cede a small parcel of land adjacent to the Garrison Building to the Northwest Area School Board in order to complete a sale of the structure to a private individual who agreed to purchase the former school at an auction in October 2012.
The land deal also was part of a board agenda at an executive meeting on Wednesday. District Superintendent Ronald Grevera said the land accommodation is a concession to the proposed purchaser in order to move the sale forward to closing.
In addition, Wendy Kramer, borough secretary/treasurer, said council acted to retain a 10-foot easement in front of the school to maintain the bank of Shickshinny Creek.
On another issue, council voted to set the fine for illegal parking in a handicap zone at $50.
