BERWICK – With its offense stalled for most of the first half, Berwick converted three big plays in a span of five minutes to break the game open as the Bulldogs cruised to 49-0 victory over Tunkhannock Friday at Crispin Field.

The Bulldogs held a 7-0 lead with five minutes left in the second quarter when Berwick faced a third down on its own 23-yard line. Berwick quarterback C.J. Curry dropped back to pass, bought himself some time and fired a pass deep to Andrew Force, who scampered into the end zone for the 77-yard touchdown reception to give the Bulldogs a 14-0 lead.

"Anytime you could hit a bomb it's a momentum play," Dawgs coach George Curry said. "They were giving us the deep one by playing everything underneath."

On the ensuing possession, Tunkhannock drove the ball into Berwick territory, but the Bulldogs forced a fumble and Travis Potter dove on the loose ball.

The turnover gave Berwick another shot at a big play and the Bulldogs capitalized. Curry again found Force behind the Tunkhannock defense for a 55-yard touchdown pass with 26 seconds remaining, giving Berwick a 21-0 advantage heading into the half.

"If you give him time to throw, it's a touchdown," coach Curry said. "He did it in Dallas, Pottsville and Crestwood."

Berwick carried the momentum into the second half when Kyle Trenholm returned the opening kickoff 77 yards for the Bulldogs third touchdown in about five minutes of play.

"I thought we came out and played really good in the first half," Tunkhannock coach Rod Azar said. "We were a couple plays away from it being a closer game going into the half."

After a Tunkhannock fumble on a punt, Curry threw a 32-yard strike to Jeff Steeber to move the Bulldogs inside the Tunkhannock five-yard line. Matt Cashman capped off the drive with a one-yard run to give Berwick a 35-0 lead.
