The Wilkes University wrestling team stands in fourth place after the first day of the Messiah Petrofes Tournament, held on the campus of Messiah College on Friday.
The Colonels had 11 wrestlers compete on Day 1, including Guesseppe Rea, Myzar Mendoza, Mark Misczenski, Sean Lombardi, John Lynch, Stephen Turner, Phillip Racciato, Nathan White, Nicholas Lynch, Levi Veppert and David Oberrender.
The Misericordia University women's swim team is in second place after the first day of competition of the Diamond City Invitational at the Wilkes-Barre CYC.
Dani Blass led the Cougars with a second-place finish in the 200 IM and teamed with Bree Grzech, Brittany Luzik and Katie Strohosky for a runner-up finish in the 400 medley relay.
King's Kim Brino was eighth of 36 swimmers as the Monarch's placed fifth through the first day of the Diamond City Invitational.
In the 400 medley relay, King's team of Brino, Erin McLin, Manning and Macawley Brown were fifth of 16 teams. In the 200 freestyle relay, the Monarch team of Brown, Manning, McLin and Brino were fifth out of 15 teams.
A pair of relay wins helped Misericordia to a second-place showing after the first day of the Diamond City Classic.
Matt Cullen, Brad Thomas, Doug Ranson and Adam Grzech won the 200 free relay and 400 medley relay, while Chris Gleason led four Cougars in the 500 free final with a fourth-place finish.
Andrew Reimann was 10th among 19 swimmers in the 500 freestyle while teammate Michael Sweeney was finished 11 at the Diamond City Invitational.
In the 200 freestyle, King's team of Darnell, Sweeney, Reimann and Lucas Crock was fourth of 14 teams with a time of 1:35.41.
