Students excel at District Skills Competition

Several students at West Side Career and Technology Center recently received medals in the District Skills Competition held at the Lackawanna Career and Technical Center. Students placing first in their area of competition will participate in the state competition to be held in April in Lancaster. Award winners, from left: Mitch Pointon, first place, HVAC; David McTague, third place, criminal justice; Kareemah Condry, third place, medical math; Cassie Hivish, first place, crime scene investigation; Frank Vandermark, adviser, Skills USA; Emily Mansilla, first place, crime scene investigation; Mike Stash, first place, internetworking; Justin Hodgson, third place, computer maintenance; and Chris Osborn, first place, crime scene investigation. Other winners were Ceara Letteer, third place, CPR/first aid; Chris Cragle, first place, carpentry; and Melinda Champliver, first place, commercial baking.
