(AP) Syrian hospital officials say twin car bombs have killed at least 20 people in a Damascus suburb that is mostly loyal to President Bashar Assad.

The state news agency, SANA, says two cars packed with explosives detonated early on Wednesday morning in the capital's eastern Jaramana suburb.

Two hospital officials say at least 20 bodies were brought in to two nearby hospitals. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.

Activists gave a higher toll. The Britain-based Observatory for Human Rights says 29 people were killed. The activist group relies on reports from the ground. The different tolls could not immediately be reconciled.
