WILKES-BARRE – City police are investigating two armed robberies in which suspects apparently targeted two people at random on city streets Tuesday night.
Police said an 18-year-old man from Wilkes-Barre and a 54-year-old man from Hanover Township were robbed in separate incidents just minutes apart while they were out walking – one on West River Street and the other on Old River Road – at about 9:15 p.m.
In both instances, the victims were approached by five to six black males who exited a white vehicle, believed to be a sedan, with at least one of them brandishing a handgun.
The suspects are described as being between the ages of 16 and 21. One of them was described as 6 feet tall or taller and wearing glasses. They were all wearing black and/or gray hoodies, police said.
An investigation into the incidents continues.
