• Twelve of the 14 teams in the WVC have advanced at least three wrestlers to this morning's semifinals. The only two teams that don't have a semifinalist are Hanover Area and Nanticoke.

• GAR only has five wrestlers in the tournament, but four have advanced to the semis.

• Wyoming Valley West has the most semifinalists with nine, while Dallas is next with seven. Pittston Area and Coughlin follow with five apiece.

A moment of silence was held prior to the start of the event to remember Francis Yogi Michael, who passed away late last year. Michael was a staple at every big tournament in the area as a worker or spectator.
