Thirty Wyoming Valley Conference field hockey players were honored by the Pennsylvania High School Field Hockey Coaches Association with All-Academic honors for the 2012 season.

Crestwood's Rachael Ritz capped a season in which the Comets won the Class 2A championship by earning state All-Academic honors. Also on the Class 2A team were four players from Wyoming Seminary -- Hannah Dressler, Emily Granger, Devin Holmes, Kristen Mericle – which went to the state tournament.

Class 3A state playoff entry Coughlin had three players named – Madysen Jones, Haley Waslasky and Caitlin Wood.

Hazleton Area, Lackawanna Trail, Wyoming Valley West and Lake-Lehman each had four selections, tying Wyoming Seminary for the most players honored this season.

Sixteen Class 3A seniors from the WVC were chosen and 14 seniors from Class 2A were honored.

Holy Redeemer: Morgan Mancini

Wyoming Area: Gabby Albergi, Serra Degnan

Wyoming Seminary: Hannah Dressler, Emily Granger, Devin Holmes, Kristen Mericle

PSU W-B 76, Central Penn 40

Penn State Wilkes-Barre's women's basketball team got 21 points and 20 rebounds from Tiaira Brathwaite, 19 points and 31 rebounds from Tiffany Denny-Rochester and 16 points from Katie Beach in a win at home against Central Penn.

DeSales 77, Misericordia 62

Misericordia dropped its second straight Freedom Conference contest at DeSales.

Hannah Seely led the Cougars with 19 points while Tyann McDaniel and Lauren Smicherko added 14 and 12, respectively.

DeSales 79, Misericordia 61

Misericordia suffered its first Freedom Conference loss of the season at DeSales.

Cael Evans notched 17 points to lead the Cougars while Justin Grotevant added 12.
