Walter Mattey Sr. to celebrate 85th birthday

Walter Mattey Sr. will celebrate his 85th birthday on Dec. 19, 2012.

Walter was born in Swoyersville and now resides in Plains Township, where he is a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church and the American Legion Post 558.

He has four children, Rose Mary Hrycyk, Larksville; Walter Jr., Wilkes-Barre; Kathleen Mattey, Kingston; and JoAnn Karpinski, Mountain Top.

Walter has five grandchildren, Michele Pollock, Nicole and Kelsey Hennen, Nathan Mattey and Katie Karpinski. He has one great-grandson, Dylan Malia.

A family gathering will be held in his honor to celebrate this milestone.
