A woman found critically injured inside her Horton Street, Wilkes-Barre, home in late December has died.

Lorraine Stelma, 69, died Thursday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township, said Luzerne County Acting Coroner William Lisman.

Forensic pathologist Dr. Gary Ross performed an autopsy on Stelma on Friday, Lisman said.

We're not ready to rule on the cause and manner of death until we get a chance to review two weeks of medical records, which we have subpoenaed from Geisinger, he said.

City police and paramedics responded to Stelma's house at 247 Horton St. for a report of a fall victim just before 10 a.m. on Dec. 29.

A neighbor said at the time that police led a man out of the house in handcuffs. The man was later identified as Stelma's son, Mark J. Stelma, 44, who was jailed on outstanding warrants for non-payment of fines.

Court records indicate Mark Stelma was found guilty of allowing his dogs to run loose and failed to pay fines with District Judge Rick Cronauer.
