Wilkes field hockey pulls out OT victory

DOYLESTOWN — Freshman Lexi Thompson scored the game-winning goal with 55 seconds left in the first overtime period to lift the Wilkes field hockey team to a Freedom Conference road win against Delaware Valley on Saturday.


Ashley Hahn put Wilkes on the board first scoring her fifth of the season unassisted at the 8:08 mark.


Eastern 8, Misericordia 0

Grace Riker started and made six saves in goal for the Cougars, while Haley Brandt made three saves playing the second half.


MEN'S SOCCER
Eastern 3, Wilkes 0

Host Eastern posted a shutout win over Wilkes. Dave Marr made 11 saves in the net for the Colonels.


DeSales 2, Misericordia 2 (2 OT)

Misericordia battled to a draw in a key Freedom Conference match on the road.


Dan Pinto scored both goals for the Cougars while Eric Kishbaugh had an assist.


King's 5, FDU-Florham 1

Chris Nygren and David Stroh scored two goals apiece to power King's over FDU-Florham.


Erik Foster also scored for the Monarchs.


WOMEN'S SOCCER
Wilkes 0, Eastern 0 (2OT)

After 110 minutes of play, Wilkes and Eastern battled to a scoreless tie in a Freedom Conference match.


Kate Mahoney made five saves in the net for the Lady Colonels


Misericordia 9, DeSales 2

Sam Helmstetter broke the school's all-time assists record to lead Misericordia to a road win.


Helmstetter, Laura Roney and Lindsay Usarzewicz had a goal and an assist while Erin McGreal, Megan Lannigan and Erin Baker added goals.


FDU-Florham 2, King's 1

The visiting Devils knocked off the Lady Monarchs, who got a goal from Taylor Sweeney. Ivy Nulton picked up the assist.


WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Misericordia 3, Penn-State Harrisburg 0

Senior outside hitter Cailin McCullion pounded a match-high 14 kills as the Cougars earned a 25-19, 25-8, 25-17 sweep at the Anderson Center.


McCullion also recorded a match-best 14 digs, while Shelby Brochetti and Kat Labrie added eight and seven kills, respectively, for the Cougars.


CROSS COUNTRY
Monarchs finish strong

King's put together one of its best performances of the season as the Monarchs placed fourth in the 22-team, 8k DeSales Invitational in Center Valley.


The Monarchs managed to outrun 18 other squads and place fourth with 147 points.


Brent Lewandowski led King's by finishing 20th with a time of 28:02.08. Tim Lambert was 28th at 28:21.47 while T.J. Ferguson and Bornfas Omurwa were 35th and 36th respectively with times of 28:24.71 and 28:25.48.


The Lady Monarchs took 15th place in a 20-team women's field.


Wilkes places ninth

Also competing at the DeSales Invitational, the Colonels finished in ninth place out of 22 teams.


The Colonels saw seven runners reach top 10 times in program history while setting season-best marks in the process including Jordan Siddons, Tyler Sutton and Forest Hawkins.


Wilkes' women's squad finished in 13th place, with three Lady Colonels – Rachel Constant, Becky Gordon and Christine Klingel – setting season and personal best times in the 6k race.


Cougars in Gettysburg

Misericordia took ninth out of 36 teams at the Gettysburg Invitational.


Dave McLean finished 33rd overall in a time of 26:42, a personal-best and the seventh-fastest time in school history.


A.J. Limongelli, Mikael Hause Josh Krall and Zach Bottone all contributed to the finish.
