Williamsport (0-9)
at
Wyoming Valley West (6-3)
7 p.m. today
The Coaches: Williamsport's Kevin Choate (0-9, 1st year); Valley West's Pat Keating (28-14, 4th year)
Last Meeting: Valley West 49-18 in 2011
All-Time Series: Valley West leads 19-17
Quick Fact: Valley West has won the last nine meetings, scoring at least 40 points four times.
Scouting Williamsport: The Millionaires continued to struggle on both side of the ball, losing 36-17 to Crestwood. During their 11-game losing streak, they have allowed 35 or more points in all but one game.
Williamsport hasn't scored more than three TDs in a game since a 48-25 loss to Hazleton Area in week four. The shift of Sadiq Burkholder, one of the WVC's top athletes, to quarterback hasn't made much of a difference. RB Devin Miller needs 1 16 yards for his third consecutive 1,000-yard season.
Scouting Valley West: After missing out on the District 2/4-1 1 Class 4A playoffs, the Spartans' sights are set on clinching home field throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs.
That should be easy enough against a winless team considering how Valley West has played in its last three games. The Spartans have outscored their opponents 130-29 in that span. They got their first defensive touchdown – a Derrick Simms interception – and first special teams touchdown – a Josh Ortiz punt return – in last Friday's 40-7 victory over Pittston Area.
What To Expect: Valley West is hitting its stride while Williamsport is stumbling on both sides of the ball. Not a good combination for the visiting team.
