Woman charged with taking $16,000 from LCCC

Janet M. Griffith, 51, of Center Street, was arraigned on two felony counts of theft by failure to make required deposit of funds and one similar misdemeanor charge.
Griffith was arraigned by District Judge Donald Whittaker and scheduled for a Nov. 14 preliminary hearing. She was released on her own recognizance.
According to court papers, Griffith was employed as a secretary at the college's Public Safety Training Institute and began taking money in February 2009 until June 2011.
Investigators say a total of $16,809 was taken.
Griffith is no longer employed by the college.
