WILKES-BARRE – A city man was arraigned Thursday on charges he threw a steak knife that lodged in the leg of his stepdaughter during a domestic dispute.
Christopher Hazur, 44, of South Hancock Street, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and criminal mischief. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.
According to the criminal complaint:
Police investigated a domestic disturbance at Hazur's residence and found Amber Hazur bleeding from her leg and a knife on the ground just after 9 p.m.
Amber Hazur told police her stepfather threw a steak knife that stuck in her leg after she had intervened in a dispute between her mother, Michele, and Hazur, the complaint says.
Police said Amber Hazur was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.
She said Hazur followed her outside with a steak knife and tried to cut her hair. Hazur punctured a tire on Amber Hazur's mother's vehicle and threw the knife striking Amber Hazur in the leg, according to the complaint.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Nov. 20.
