Wyoming will examine bids for Sharp St.

WYOMING -- Bids for the borough's Sharp Street paving project were opened at the regular council meeting on Monday, with Popple Construction of Laflin submitting the low bid of $88,000 for the proposed work.


According to council, the bid will be formally awarded contingent upon review by the borough engineer.


In other business:


•Council voted to award the storm drain repair work at the corners of Breese Street and Wyoming Avenue and Dennison Street and 8th Street to The Ed Krasvage Co. at an amount of $3,800 per location.


•Council announced the borough has begun the application process for the 2013 community development grant for the maximum amount of $75,000 for road resurfacing and stormsewer drain repair in the First Ward.


•Council voted to approve sending a "letter of concern" to the Luzerne County Zoning Board about the proposed construction of a natural gas compression station in neighboring West Wyoming Borough.
