LEHMAN TWP.: The Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Constituent Society is offering a bus trip to Lake Seneca on Saturday, June 20. The event is co-sponsored by the Penn State Schuylkill Alumni Society. The tour will consist of Wagner Vineyard, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, Rock Stream Vineyards and Glenora Wine Cellars. The bus will depart from the Penn State Wilkes-Barre gym parking lot at 7 a.m.

The trip costs $100 per person and includes bus transportation, admission to the wineries and a barbecue lunch at 12:15 p.m. Space is limited. Reservations should be made as soon as possible.

NANTICOKE: The Greater Nanticoke Area School District is accepting applications for its PA Pre-K Counts program for the 2015-16 school year.

PA Pre-K Counts is a free, high-quality preschool program for families who meet eligibility requirements. Income limits are 300 percent the Head Start level (a family of four is $72,750). Priority is being given to children who will be starting kindergarten in the school district in 2016-17. Parents of three-year-old children are encouraged to also apply and put their children on the waiting list.

GNA Pre-K Counts holds morning and afternoon classes every day of the GNA School District school calendar. The class day is about an hour shorter than the Head Start class day and includes a snack but not breakfast or lunch. Transportation is not provided.

Families who are eligible for Head Start are strongly encouraged to apply to Head Start for their child. Items of documentation required with the GNA Pre-K Counts application are child’s birth certificate and immunization record, income verification, driver’s license of parent or guardian who will be picking up the child and proof of residency.

NANTICOKE: Luzerne County Community College is offering courses during its full summer session.

Classes begin on Tuesday, June 2, and end on Thursday, August 6. Final exams will be held Monday, Aug. 10, to Thursday, Aug. 13.

Registration for the full summer session will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.on Tuesday, May 26, and Wednesday, May 27; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 28; and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 1, and Tuesday, June 2, at the Registrar’s Office on the college’s campus in Nanticoke.

WILKES-BARRE: Wilkes-Barre Council 302 Knights of Columbus is hosting guest speaker Patrick Rushton, outreach and education manager for the Victims Resource Center, at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, in the rectory basement lounge of Our Lady of Fatima Parish (St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception), 134 S. Washington Street.

Rushton will discuss the services available at the center for victims of violence. The center also offers violence prevention education programs in Luzerne, Wyoming and Carbon counties. He will also discuss the rights of crime victims, including victims compensation assistance. The public is invited.
