The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) of Pennsylvania sponsored an art contest ‘The Arts Cupboard.’ The GFWC-West Side Women’s Club sponsored the area contest in the Wyoming Valley West School District. Some 175 students entered the contest. Judges were Erin Murray, art teacher, Wyoming Valley West High School, and Jill Barrouk, art teacher, State Street Elementary School. Deidre Kaminski served as chairperson and Melissa Parry was co-chair. Each student received a certificate of participation and gift certificates to Stanton Bowling Lanes, That Bounce Place and Chacko’s Bowling Center. The 56 students who finished in first through seventh place also received gift certificates from Chuck E. Cheese, Sky Zone, Marquis Art and Frame, Movies 14, Sue Hand Imagery, Grotto Pizza, Tommy’s Pizza Corner, Pizza Bella, Dagwood’s Deli, Ollie’s Family Restaurant, Sweet Frog, Hoopla, Stanton Bowling Lanes and That Bounce Place. GFWC-West Side donated three 101-piece art kits.
