Editor’s note: The Dallas Post is rich in all kinds of history, especially sports history. Each week, the Post will bring you several different highlights from a particular decade. For this week, we chose to highlight the decades ending in “3.”

May 2003

Meredith Lacey and Shannon Thomas each went 3-for-3 with three runs scored as the Dallas softball team took down Wyoming Area, 10-2, in Wyoming Valley Conference action.

Lauren Patton and Erin Swepston had two hits apiece for Dallas. Lauren Collini earned the win, striking out eight and allowing only three hits.

May 1993

Dallas’ Jeff Kunkle hit two home runs as the Mountaineers took down Coughlin, 11-6.

After giving up five runs in the first inning, Dallas came back to score eight times in its half of the inning, and added three more in the bottom of the seventh. Dave Fisher got the win for Dallas.

Kunkle finished the game 3-for-3 with six RBI.

May 1983

Lake-Lehman used a 10-run first inning to take down West Side Tech, 17-3, in softball action.

Kelly Siglin relieved Lehman starter Jill Solinski after the first and earned the win. Pam Solinski drove in three runs, while Chris Wascutis and Sue Bonsavage each drove in two. Kim Fey also drove in a run in the win.

May 1973

J. Wolensky’s three-run double in the sixth inning proved to be the difference as the Dallas baseball team took down St. John’s, 8-4.

Pisaneschi and Snyder collected three hits each for the Mountaineers. Rose finished the game with two hits. Pisaneschi scored three runs, while Snyder scored two.
