Firefighters confer with one another during a blaze on Meeker Road in Lehman Township Sunday night.

LEHMAN TWP. — A fire on Meeker Road in Lehman Township Sunday night left one person injured and left a home with significant damage.

The alarm was called in at about 8 p.m.

Back Mountain Regional fire chief Tim Rismondo said it appeared an elderly woman had been cooking and “had some kind of problem with her stove.”

Rismondo said the woman was taken by ambulance to a local medical center for a burn to the wrist. He reported that she had been able to fully respond to the questions from emergency personnel.

The woman’s name was not released.

He said the back of lower floor of the house had significant damage.

More than a dozen emergency vehicles converged on the scene. Jackson township, Lake Silkworth, Sweet Valley, Shavertown and Back Mountain Regional departments all sent firefighting equipment, which included tankers, engines and a cascade truck.

Back Mountain Regional ambulance also provided assistance.

More than 50 firefighters and emergency responders provided assistance.
