In this beautiful time of the year, the Polish group held its annual debutante ball. Ten of our finest young ladies and their escorts were presented to society in an age-old tradition.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this Polish elegance. I will mention the hardworking ladies keeping these traditions alive, teaching the debutantes and their escorts the courtly polonaise; the parents; the musicians and King’s College.

We are remembering a time when Poland covered much of the map of Europe, had kings and queens and astronomers, such as Copernicus.

Many years ago these debutantes were presented to the kings and queens of Poland.

Thank you to Times Leader reporter Mary Therese Biebel, who did an excellent job in covering the debutante ball.

May our Valley continue its hard work with the arts and, in particular, our youth.
