Finding something fun and unique to do doesn’t always have to break the bank or even touch the bank. As summer races toward us, beer gardens pop up like weeds, local craftsmen peddle their wares, and area attractions go out of their way to attract you. Check out these 10 interesting and cheap things to do this weekend in and around Philadelphia.

Luau at the Porch: Looking for a little lunchtime entertainment to kick off the weekend? Head to the Porch at 30th Street Station on June 26 for a free performance of South Pacific Island Dancers and Polynesian Entertainment. The luau runs from noon to 1 p.m.

Parisian Cabaret: Head to Philadelphia’s Museum of Art for Art after 5 on Friday, June 26. From 5 – 8:45 p.m., the museum will be transformed into a Parisian nightclub featuring live jazz and a variety show. This evening is inspired by the exhibition Discovering the Impressionists: Paul Durand-Ruel and the New Painting, opening June 25. The program is free after admission ($20 for adults, $18 for senior citizens, $14 for students and youths ages 13-18).

Tall Ships Philadelphia Camden: For just $15.99 each day of the weekend, enjoy one-day access to tour the Tall Ships docked on the Philadelphia and Camden waterfronts and the festival grounds. The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.

Wanamaker Grand Court Organ recital: Free! Running throughout the year, catch a 45-minute recital of the world’s largest pipe organ. On Fridays, concerts run from 12-12:45 p.m. and 7-7:30 p.m. On Saturdays, catch the show from noon -12:45 p.m. and 5:30-6:15 p.m. Visitors are invited to meet the organist after the recitals as well.

Clark Park Farmers’ Market: Open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The huge market features local produce, food carts and flower stands. Free to walk around and take in everything it has to offer.

National HIV Testing Day at the Mutter Museum: The Mutter Museum is hosting a free lecture on Saturday, June 27 at 5:15 p.m. The speaker will be University of Pennsylvania’s Lance Wahlert, who will present a lecture on “Ethical and Historical Perspectives on HIV Status, HIV Testing, and Sexual Health within and beyond the LGBT Community.” The lecture is free but registration is required. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the museum will also be hosting free HIV testing. Anyone who gets tested will be given complimentary admission to the museum. There will also be food, family activities and arts and crafts.

Circus Weeks at the Morris Arboretum: For the 18th year, the Morris Arboretum’s Garden Railroad is open. The quarter mile of track is made up of natural materials, including Philadelphia-area landmarks, like Independence Hall. Starting Saturday, June 27 is Circus Weeks at the Garden Railroad. The first circus was held in Philadelphia in 1793 so this exhibit will display circus trains and the Big Top. Come learn about the history of the circus. The exhibit is free with garden admission ($16 for adults).

Devil takes the Hindmost: Head to the Temple University track on Saturday, June 27 at 11:30 a.m. for a fun organized run. During the races (one for men and one for women), the organizers will dress as devils and eliminate runners. Last one running wins. Eliminated? Johnson & Johnson TriRock Philadelphia Triathlon: Want to push yourself further than a fun run? For the 11th year, the Johnson & Johnson TriRock Philadelphia Triathlon will kick off a weekend of activities on Saturday, June 27 at Fairmount Park. Come watch top athletes swim, bike and run along the Schuylkill River, culminating in the Olympic Distance Race on Sunday, the 28. Philly’s Phunniest: Head to Helium Comedy Club on Sunday, June 28th for the last evening of the preliminary rounds in the annual Philly’s Phunniest contest. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $18 for reserved seating. The show is 21+ (or 18+ with a parent). Tickets can be picked up about 1.5-2 hours before the show at the box office.
