I began to question my disdain for Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum after reading about his going “back to his roots” as, he said, a moderate Republican whose focus was really on jobs and the economy. He was pretty convincing, but he still makes my skin crawl, so I was skeptical.

Then I read the piece in the Times Leader about local politicians’ reactions to the Supreme Court’s upholding the right to marry for gay and lesbian Americans. Santorum says there hasn’t been any public debate or input on this issue. He actually said that.

Well, now I know who Santorum really is. He stores himself in a coffin filled with soil from his native country in between campaigns, because that’s about the only reason he’d say something like that.
